Beginning to Advanced Watercolor Workshops are held weekdays at Tacoma Community College and weekends in the studio above Kelley's Custom Frame & Gallery at 113 N. Tacoma Ave in Tacoma's Stadium District.  For information on workshop rates and times, please contact scott@scottmulholland.net.

I also visit many different Puget Sound Retirement homes and Rehab Clinics to paint with many very special people.

I try to motivate my students to enjoy the creative process and have fun while painting. I like them to say, "Is that the time already?" when it's time to pack up. That shows me they were in a therapeutic and healthy place with their paintings.

Winter of '07 / '08 brought us handmade greeting cards with icy blue backgrounds and geometric snowflakes.  These two paintings came from a workshop using Spanish sea salt to create the mood of the painting.  We built the next two layers with consecutive flat washes.

This painting is of Tibetan Prayer Flags in the late afternoon sun. We used glazes to build the drama of the light, shadow and color and each wrote personal prayers on the flags to send our dreams into the universe.

Last summer we painted a dragonfly series. We started with wet-on-wet washes, then carefully used an iridescent metallic paint for the body and a granulating mineral paint for the wing structure.

We have also painted rustic barns, swallows, still-lifes with summer fruit and flowers, beach scenes and vineyards.
